About
I'm Aditya — a data scientist based in Bangalore, working at the intersection of machine learning and financial data.
I came at this sideways, through statistics rather than computer science. I think that matters. I tend to reach for rigour before cleverness, and I care more about whether something actually works than whether it looks good doing it.
I grew up in Mumbai. I have two cats. I cycle when Bangalore's traffic allows it, which is less often than I'd like. I drink too much coffee and have strong opinions about it.
I love fiction — the more absurd the premise the better, usually. I find you learn more about how people actually work from a well-constructed fictional scenario than from most non-fiction that sets out to explain them. What better way to stress-test your assumptions about human behaviour than to put people in situations that couldn't exist?
I write here about whatever I'm thinking about — data science, electronics projects, cycling, food, and the occasional thing that has no category at all. The common thread, if there is one, is that I'm interested in how things actually work.
If something here is useful or worth arguing with, I'd like to hear about it.
